IDEE Council

The IDEE Governing Body supports and advises the Board to ensure effective governance. Its key responsibilities include developing and reviewing governance policies and procedures, identifying and recruiting qualified board members, providing induction and training for new members, and conducting regular evaluations of both the Board’s overall performance and the indicidual contributions of its members.

FINANCE COMMITTEE

This committee is responsible for helping the Governing Body oversee the financial planning and performance. 

  • Supports good financial decision-making and ensures the Institute uses its resources wisely.
  • Advice on the annual operating and general election budgets.
  • Monitors and reports on: How well the Institute is meeting its financial targets

HUMAN RESOURCES COMMITTEE

This Committee advises the Council on staff and student matters, focusing on fair policies and strategic planning.

  • Develop systems for staff performance reviews and professional growth.
  • Oversee student admissions to ensure criteria are met.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and maintain fair workplace relations.
  • Review and update policies on staff/student conduct, discipline, grievances, and appeals.

AUDIT & RISK COMMITTEE

The committee is appointed by and reports to the Council. It oversees financial reporting and suits, with all key auditor interactions channelled through the Committee.

LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

This committee focuses on growth and education. It helps the Institute keep improving as a place where people can learn about democracy and elections.

  • Support training and professional development.
  • Help design and improve courses and programs.
  • Organise workshops, research, and community learning.
  • Check how well learning goals are being achieved.
